An industry-wide effort, Plug and Play will make PC compatibles easier to configure and maintain while reducing support costs for vendors and users. Although businesses and individuals both stand to gain substantial benefits, the transition to full adoption of Plug
and Play won't be painless, won't come cheap, and will likely take years.
