Ben Smith's review of The Unix Hater's Handbook (Books & CD-ROM, December 1994) is really off-base. I picked up the book for the company library, and it has passed from hand to hand ever since. I've heard nothing but favorable comments from Unix and VMS programmers alike. Not only is the book humorous, it's also rather accurate technically. It may not be a literary work of art, but it is fun reading and doesn't deserve to be trashed. Read the book. Then fire the reviewer.
