Eureka is a coder/decoder ASIC that translates FM-encoded time code to and from separate data and clock signals, suitable for a general-purpose USART in synchronous mode. The device is implemented in 1-micron CMOS FPGA technology and reads longitudinal time code in play speeds ranging from x1/100 to x300. It also provides pulses for frame-synchronization word recognition.
