/ External Modems With Voice
The LX voice/data/fax series consists of a 28.8-Kbps modem, the Smart One 2834VLX ($319), and a 14.4-Kbps modem, the Smart One 1442VLX ($189). Voice-mail features let you record messages with a telephone handset and access them at any time using a Touch-Tone phone. The modems can accommodate up to 999 voice-mail boxes and activate a remote pager when they receive new messages. Modem features include hardware-based V.42bis data compression, V.42 and MNP 2-4 error correction, and MNP 10 for better performance in areas with poor phone-line conditions. Fax features
range from scheduling, remote retrieval, personalized cover sheets, phone books, faxback, and fax on demand. The LX series also includes two data/fax modems, the 28.8-Kbps Smart One 2834FLX ($299) and the 14.4-Kbps Smart One 1441FLX ($159). T
