The TMI8828 is a highly integrated CMOS audio chip that supports the Sound Blaster, Windows Sound System, MIDI, and MPC level 1 and 2 standards. When combined with an external FM synthesizer, you have a complete 16-bit sound system with a stereo audio playback and record channel. The codec has a programmable sampling rate of up to 48 kHz and boasts a dynamic range of 85 dB, with a total harmonic distortion of less than 0.03 percent. The TMI8828 comes in a 128-pin QFP package and provides simultaneous interfaces to DSPs, wave-table synthesizers, and MPEG audio decoders.
