The data communications market in Europe is growing rapidly. Forecasters at Romtec (Maidenhead, U.K.) say:
-- Installed base of data connections to public networks will grow from 6 million in 1995 to 11.1 million in 2000.
-- Current domination of connections to leased circuits and PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) will be overtaken by ISDN. In 2000, 47 percent of all data connections to public networks will be ISDN.
-- Frame-relay and ATM services will experience rapid growth over the next five years but will remain a niche market (1 percent).
