March 1996 / International What's New Software / Smart Character Recognition

The EasyReader Classic and EasyReader Elite character-recognition software packages, from Mimetics, use neural-network technology to recognize all fonts and styles, ranging from 6 to 72 points in size, from all kinds of scanned written material. The software is available in different versions for use with Windows 95 for 32-bit processing, Macs and Power Macs, and Word for Windows. EasyReader Elite is a professional versi on that also runs on 486 systems with 4 MB of RAM. The two packages, which can recognize complete words as well as individual characters, come with dictionaries for English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
