The WS 1000 ($3495) consists of two separate components: the RS 1 Ring Scanner, a 2-ounce aim-and-shoot device that you wear on your index finger, and the WU 1000, a 9-ounce wrist-mounted DOS-compatible microcomputer. The WU 1000 comes with 640 KB of RAM; 512 KB of nonvolatile memory; a four-row by 20-column display; a 27-key alphanumeric keyboard; a lithium-ion battery pack that can operate for a full 8-hour shift on a single charge; and a Symbol Spectrum One radio card for real-time, two-way wireless data communications.
