ArticlesVirtual Reality

June 1996 / Toys / Virtual Reality

These toys won't be just for games for long. Soon businesses will immerse customers in that new building or car in a much more informative way than with flatlander graphics. That same new car will be designed with this technology. Dispersed teams of engineers--each with their own avatar--will interact with the product and each other as if they were in the same room (OK, touch is limited and smell is out). Meanwhile, Christmas is only six months away.
