The Xylan PizzaSwitch is available in two models: One supports 12 10Base-T connections, and the other handles eight connections that can be of any type of Ethernet. In addition, each base unit can link FDDI, CDDI, or ATM ports. Each PizzaSwitch contains flash memory for code and configuration storage. Features include transparent switching with automatic MAC-layer transla tion, support of network-wide virtual LANs, IP and IPX routing, as well as graphical support for a range of SNMP platforms. PizzaSwitch can be automatically assigned to 32 virtual LANs.
