SAPS, SpartaCom's Asynchronous Port Sharing software, lets LAN users effectively share a pool of modems for inbound and outbound calls. SAPS allows peer-to-peer sharing of COM ports between Windows and NT workstations on a LAN. With SAPS, network administrators can assign external modems or ISDN adapters to a group of users, eliminating the need for a dedicated line and modem for every user. The program searches for the first available modem in the assigned modem pool and automatically opens or closes a port when an application calls it.
