/ A Single-Chip Pentium Pro Chip Set
SIS's 5601 is the first single-chip core-logic solution designed for Intel's Pentium Pro processor. The chip set, which is designed for all Pentium Pro MPUs, integrates a DRAM controller, a power management unit, PCI- and ISA-bus interfaces, a real-time clock, and a keyboard controller. Other major features include a fast PCI IDE master controller and support for the universal serial bus. The 5601 provides bus frequencies of 66 MHz and supports u
p to 512 MB of memory, including EDO DRAM, SDRAM, and other types. The new chip set also supports single-bit error correction and multiple-bit error detection and parity. The 5601 comes in a 480-pin ball-grid-array package.
