You can achieve plug-and-play ATM connectivity at the price of Fast Ethernet products with Fore Systems' Forerunner LE ($650 per 155-Mbps port, $3000 per 622-Mbps port). It's an ATM network interface card supporting videoconferencing, video on demand, remote collaboration, and telephony integration. A bundled workgroup version of
Forerunner is available with adapters for individual connections at $300. Forerunner supports Windows 95, NT, OS/2 Warp Connect, Novell NetWare, and Open Transport.
