The Internet's Busting Out All Over
The number of people who today regularly access the Internet through alternative points of access has almost tripled since spring 1996. These alternative points of access include locales other than home, school, or the office -- such as museums, libraries, retail out-fits (including malls and cyber cafés), recreational facilities, churches, hospitals, and community centers. In 1996, 1.5
percent of the survey respondents claimed to access the Internet through alternative points; that's now up to 4 percent, suggesting that the Internet's importance in our daily life is increasing.
