The DAC960PJ level 5 RAID controller (from $1050) is capable of 2400 I/O per second, which Mylex claims is a 118 percent increase over its previous top-of-the-line controllers. RAID controllers are used in building enterprise-level server and storage subsystems, and this PCI-to-SCSI controll er has Hot Plug support and a 32-bit, 66-MHz RISC CPU with several read/write cache options to free up host CPU cycles and keep systems on-line.
