January 1998 / What's New / A Handy Flatbed Scanner

IBM's Color Flatbed Scanner ($299) delivers 30-bit software-enhanced color resolution at up to 9600 x 9600 dpi. Standard resolution goes up to 600 x 1200 dpi. The unit's cover can be removed for scanning bulky objects. A parallel port pass-through connection eliminates the need to open your computer to configure a SCSI adapter during ins tallation. It comes loaded with Xerox Pagis SE with TextBridge OCR software for document handling and character recognition and Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 for image editing.
