Sun Solaris

Solaris 2.6 includes many changes that make it 64-bit-capable. These range from modifications to the libraries to include 64-bit calls, to changes to the file system so that it can support files as large as 1 TB. As you might expect, Solaris 2.6 also includes many Java features, such as an applet viewer, an integrated virtual machine, and the HotJava browser. There are also some modifications to improve performance, including a multithreaded IP stack and improved raw disk I/O routines, as well as changes that make the package easier to use, such as Web start (a browser-based installation) and a configuration assistant for x86-based machines that identifies what's on your system.
