ArticlesZero-Hop Intranet Switch

March 1998 / International What's New / Zero-Hop Intranet Switch

PowerOffice, an intranet switch for branch offices and small offices, provides IP cut-through (i.e., Zero-Hop) routing as well as standard packet-based IP routing. It comes with either 16 Ethernet ports or eight Ethernet and two Fast Ethernet ports. The product can operate as a stand-alone IP switch or in a stack and allows peripheral I P devices to exchange data via network switches. With PowerOffice, stations on different IP networks can communicate directly without the need for an additional router.

Price: Starts at US$8950.
