ArticlesCD Writer for Parallel and PC Card Ports

March 1998 / International What's New / CD Writer for Parallel and PC Card Ports

The latest member of Freecom's IQ family of external CD writers can connect to either a PC Card or a computer's parallel port. These devices host I/O circuitry in the peripheral cables instead of inside the drives. Thus, when you replace the cable, the devices connect to both ports. The 6X read and 2X write drives feature an average access time of 200 ms and support the upcoming Universal Disc Format (UDF), which makes handling a CD-R as easy as handling a hard disk.
