Linotype's new Opal Ultra scanner comes with an improved DoubleLens system and supports resolutions of up to 1400 x 2800 dpi and several types of media. It ships with Adobe Photoshop 4.0 and Cumulus database software. In addition, the company has a new entry-level scanner, called Jade 2, that can scan r eflective materials of up to 355 x 216 mm. Maximum scaling is 250 percent, and the resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi can be interpolated to 3600 x 3600 dpi.

Price:    £5995 for Opal Ultra; £399 for Jade 2.
