SanDisk Corporation has introduced Cruzer Mini, an embedded USB 2.0 hi-speed "key chain" flash drive about the size of a lipstick case. Cruzer Mini's low profile (2.6 inches long, .79 inches wide, .48 inches deep) does not block most other USB ports when plugged in, allowing customers to use those ports without any additional cabling. When the device is
properly inserted, a large LED lights up. It also ships with a lanyard so the device can be worn around the neck. Cruzer Mini is "plug and play" with PCs and the Macintosh due to USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) compliance when used with Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS 9.2.1 or higher, and Mac OS 10.1.2 or higher. A driver can be downloaded for Windows 98 SE support.

Orthogon Systems has announced its OS-Gemini solution, an intelligent broadband wireless Ethernet bridge that offers non-line-of-site (NLOS) coverage in the license-exempt 5.8 GHz band. The system provides a secure point-to-point broadband link to connect separate networks for up to six miles where obstacles such as trees and buildings prevent a direct line-of-site connection. In its initial release, the OS-Gemini Wireless Ethernet Bridge delivers up to 23 Mbps of throughput. OS-Gemini supports 802.1p, allowing it to prioritize time sensitive voice traffic above e-mail and ftp traffic.

Maxell Corporation of America is offering DAT 72 data cartridges, the next generation DDS media. Maxell's DAT 72 media delivers 36 GB of native storage capacity (72 GB assuming 2:1 data compression) with a native transfer rate of 3 MB/sec. The increased capacity of Maxell DAT 72 has been achieved through reduction in track widths and increased tape length. The thickness of the tape has been reduced to allow for increased lengths to fit into the same DDS form factor.<>
