Crucial Technology, a division of Micron, has introduced three new Hi-Speed USB flash card readers operating at speeds up to 480 megabits per second, 40 times faster than original USB card readers. Crucial Hi-Speed USB card readers appear automatically as a removable drive when plugged into a USB port. To achieve maximum speed capabilities, the card readers require a 2.0 USB port and an operating system supporting USB 2.0. If the operating system and computer's USB port do not support USB 2.0, the card reader operates at original USB speeds.

AirBag from Computer Luggage Company is billed as "the latest range of technology protection bags for fashion-conscious gadget lovers...fusing ruggedness with contemporary cutting edge urban styles." AirBag offers a protection system designed to protect electronic devices from any form of shock by surrounding them with a layer of linked air-cells. When stress occurs, these cells divert the force away from the impact point and around the object, to neutralise the blow and protect the items within. Backpacks and messenger style bags are available with features such as 'M-Ports' for earphone access, mobile phone holders, security pouches and key clips.

Attend this Webcast and find out how to overcome common build-test-deploy challenges that affect all members of a distributed team, including:

Communication difficulties, because of time-zone and cultural differences

Workflow challenges, like lack of documented procedures and build and test handoff problems

Slow build and test cycles, broken builds, and other factors that hamper distributed team productivity

In this volume of Best of BYTE, we explore the emergence of some heuristic algorithms. Although we have only scratched the surface of this intriguing subject, we hope we've suggested the potential of the synthesis of heuristics and algorithms.
